The Implantable Miniature Telescope is indicated for monocular implantation to improve vision in patients aged 75 years and older who have stable severe to profound visual impairment (BCVA 20/160-20/800) caused by bilateral central scotomas (loss of vision) associated with end-stage AMD. In an outpatient surgical procedure, the miniature telescope is implanted in one eye, in which it magnifies central images over a wide area of the retina to improve central vision. The unoperated eye provides peripheral vision.
