Remember that legislation is in place that may dramatically reduce the maximum amount of money you can contribute to flex.  If this is enacted, it could start next year and greatly reduce the tax savings for medical related expenses (including LASIK).

Most HR departments are on top of this and instructing employees of potential benefits to contributing now for next year.

Currently you can save up to thousands of dollars off LASIK (depending on your tax bracket).  Check with your HR department, or consult your accountant to maximize your savings.  Remember that LASIK is a tax deductible medical procedure, and it becomes very economical when you take this into account.

If you are interested in applying your savings to 2010, you have about 2 weeks to consider getting screened and medically cleared.
