The same laser that we use to created an incision in the cornea during LASIK surgery is now being studied as a tool to reverse the natural aging color change of the human lens known as cataracts.  Researchers in Denmark have used the femtosecond laser to bleach the yellowing change that occurs with cataract development.  After laser treatment the age-induced yellow discoloration of the lens was markedly reduced and the transmission of light was increased corresponding to an optical rejuvenation of 3 to 7 years.
