Dr. Dell becomes the second surgeon in the United States to perform LASER cataract surgery.

Laser Cataract SurgeryDr. Dell used the same laser technology (femtosecond) that we use for LASIK eye surgery to perform a pioneering cataract surgery.  The femtosecond laser that he is using is capable of creating corneal incisions, precise anterior capsulotomy, and lens fragmentation.  These are considered the most critical steps of cataracts surgery.  This is the first major advancement in cataract surgery in decades and may be commercially available in the next couple of years.

 Dr. Dell has already performed this surgery internationally.  This laser technology is also being studied for its ability to bleach (reverse) nuclear sclerosis cataracts.
